Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has ordered the arrest of those found not complying with the usage of facemask in the State.
While emphasizing that those arrested will be isolated for 14 days, Akeredolu stated that anyone found culpable will bear costs of feeding at the isolation centre.
The Governor, who gave the order while the flagging-off the distribution of 500,000 facemasks produced by the State government, hinted that the facemasks were sewn by 400 tailors across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to him, the move became imperative as one of the ways to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19 in the state.
“It is significant for me to inform the public that whoever is arrested for not wearing the nose mask will be kept in the isolation centre for 14 days and have his specimen taken to be tested for the virus. Such individual will be responsible for his or her upkeep at the centre.
“Wearing of nose masks in public places is mandatory for every resident in the state. The enforcement has already commenced,” he said.
